Duhau Palace
Avenida Alvear 1661, Buenos Aires,
Argentina, C1014AAD
The Duhau Palace was a
magnificent sight among
structures in the Recoleta District.
Distinguished for its palaces,
embassies, luxury residences and
upscale shopping, the Recoleta
District is dubbed the Paris of
South America. The five-story
neo-classical French building is
located next to the Vatican
Embassy and was built in 1932 for
the aristocratic Duhau brothers.

We entered the beautifully
restored lobby teeming with
opulence and refinement with
animated interest. We were awed
by the artful details of the common
areas. Trudging the original red
marble flooring from the parlor, La
Bibliotique, we found ourselves
quietly at the Los Salones del
Piano Nobile entryway. Feeling like
intruders in a luxury palace, our
presence was noted by the
hostess and we were immediately
given a seating option. We
decided after careful
consideration that sitting close to
the display of inviting pastries
would be ideal. After we made our
selections from the gold-covered
detailed menu,  we couldn't help
but admire the intricate
characteristics of the room.

While sipping classic Darjeeling
and  Duhau exclusive black teas,
the silver-tiered serving plate was
filled with delicious delicacies and
placed in front of us by the
well-trained and very pleasant wait
staff. The familiar sight of scones,
decadent tea sandwiches, and
colorful French pastries were
enough to make our eyes glow and
stomachs growl with anticipation.
From time to time, the manager
Maximilian came by to replenish
our tea cups and ensure we were
continuously pampered. We were
already enjoying the entire
experience only to find out there
was more from the organic pastry
table buffet. We roared with
laughter and tried to figure out
how we could consume even more.

Towards the end of our
experience, the ever-attentive
Maximillian recommended that we
sit by the balcony of the Piano
Nobile to experience the  beauty
of the most  sought-after table in
town. Our trip to this fascinating
place will remain at the top of my
list!
