Park Hyatt Aviara
Secluded amongst 200 acres of rolling
hillsides atop the Batiquitos Lagoon Wildlife
Sanctuary, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort is a warm,
coastal retreat that welcomes with a casual
sense of elegance.  Spanish Colonial motifs,
authentic hospitality, and a wild arrangement
of vivid orchids greet you at arrival, setting the
tone for a luxurious afternoon escape.

In late August, we had the privilege to
rendezvous with Marie at Aviara and
experience their time-honored Royal Tea
service in the resort’s Library.  Perched just
above the Palm Courtyard, this space was an
oasis of cozy sectionals, royal armchairs, and
complemented by melodic sounds of a live
pianist.

We were promptly met by Rita, a lovely
individual who (by no surprise) recognized
Marie from a previous tea!  She welcomed our
party with a beautiful orientation,
knowledgeably describing the array of herbal
and fruit infusions to be served in delicate
glass teapots.

A silver tier of savory tea sandwiches, sultana
scones, and decadent desserts soon
followed.  My personal favorite was the petite
chocolate cake.  With gold flakes laced within
layers of an indulgent cacao cream, it was
clear that we had arrived at an epicurean
paradise.

The afternoon was also met with celebration;
of good friendships, a recent engagement, and
a birthday.  We were presented with heavenly
little slices of cake to top of the occasions, and
the staff graciously obliged with a multitude of
photographs to capture our moments of bliss.

If our experience had to be summed up simply,
Park Hyatt Aviara Resort was a world of warm
sophistication, botanical treasures, and
passionate service.  Marie’s expertise and
playful company, yet again, defined the day
and brought joy into each drop of tea.  With the
holidays approaching, I am bubbling with
excitement as we continue our journey of local
courts with the one, the only.....Marie!
